Penguins and Boat

So I got to see Penguins. Twice so far. Once they were actually moving, which was really really cool.
I went out to Hut Point after work about a week ago and there was a group of about a dozen penguins just sleeping. On their faces. It was quite exciting... Two got up for a whole 5 minutes before falling back on their faces. But the snow was really cool, so I guess that made up for it. Actually I was pretty excited about seeing them at all. Although I might get to see them alot more. There is a group of adelles that are just hanging around the beach so people see them most mornings.
We actually got a special break from work to go and see them the other day. We finished our chores quickly took an extra 30 minutes for a penguin break. It was totally cool. There were only 5 that time but they were all moving around and trying to find a way across this really big crack in the ice. It was really funny because one would go up and look at the crack and look over the edge, then back up and move about one foot and do it again. And again, and again. They still hadn't moved by the time I left. And I was out there for 30 minutes!
Also on Sunday night I spent two hours just sitting out on Hut Point taking pictures. It was really pretty that night. The sky was really clear and the sun was bright. I got some really nice pictures. Of course there wasn't much out there that night. The oden (which is the ice breaker) was circling in the bay, there was one seal taking a nap, and one skua that was just flying in a circle from hut point up the ridge and back. I got a TON of pictures of those three things. I even saw the skua catch a fish, but that was one time that my camera was down. But I got some good pics of the skua in flight and stuff.
Anyway it was a fun night and seeing the penguins was totally awesome!!!!
And I am planning to travel when I leave the Ice. For about a week or so. Maybe more if I can figure out working. There is this program where you go and work on organic farms and places for room and board which would be totally fun. But I will keep you all up to date on what I am doing
